The City of Springfield will receive $125,000 in state funding to construct a car port for police and fire vehicles. The announcement was made by State Representative Steve Frisbie, who said the project aims to provide covered parking for emergency vehicles, offering protection for both first responders and their equipment.
“Our police officers and firefighters risk their lives every day,” Frisbie said. “Investing in infrastructure that shelters their equipment helps keep them safe and ensures they can respond quickly when residents need them.”
Funding for the car port comes from the Legislature’s local development and safety initiative. The grant will be used to design and build the structure, with work scheduled to start soon and finish next year.
The appropriation is included in the House Budget, which now moves to the Senate for consideration. Residents seeking more details are encouraged to contact Rep. Frisbie’s office.
