Michigan State Representative Steve Frisbie has expressed support for recently enacted road funding laws, highlighting his sponsorship of House Bill 4181. The legislation is part of a package including House Bills 4180, 4181, 4182, and 4183, which were signed into law on Monday in Clinton Township. Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Speaker Matt Hall, and other legislative leaders attended the signing event.

“I’m proud of the work we’ve done to make this budget a victory for Michigan’s roads and drivers,” Frisbie said. “This plan puts real dollars into fixing local roads and bridges that people rely on every day. We’re rebuilding the infrastructure that connects families, farmers and first responders, making travel safer and strengthening our local economy for years to come.”

The new laws allocate state fuel tax revenue specifically for the repair and maintenance of roads and bridges throughout Michigan. This approach increases support for county and city road agencies while focusing resources on routes with higher traffic volumes and greater wear. Funding from these measures will be used for resurfacing projects, reconstruction efforts, and bridge rehabilitation under current plans from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) as well as local authorities.

Frisbie noted that these reforms are intended to help communities such as Calhoun County address postponed infrastructure work and enhance reliability for essential services like school buses, ambulances, and freight transportation. “People expect to see smoother pavement, safer bridges and honest timelines,” he said. “That is what these laws are designed to deliver…These laws will finally deliver results from the driveway to the highway.”
