City of Lansing is proud to celebrate Black History Month

Black history month

City of Lansing issued the following announcement on Feb 26.

The City of Lansing is proud to celebrate Black History Month with our incredible, diverse workforce. We are spotlighting several of these voices to focus on what Black History Month means to Lansing, our employees, and our residents. We honor our Black employees & residents and encourage everyone to celebrate our diversity together.

"I would say Black history IS American History and we have to protect it. What's equally important is the Black history being made today by young black activists and professionals taking up the mantle to ensure the dream of equality and progress isn't lost to history books but becomes part of the foundation of our nation moving forward."

-Brian Daniels, Lansing City Council - First Ward
