The Battle Creek City Commission is looking for an at-large commissioner to serve until the November election.
Vice Mayor Kaytee Faris resigned from the commission on Tuesday, effective immediately, because her family is moving out of state. The city charter requires the commission to appoint someone to fill her seat in the next 30 days.
- The commission will accept letters of interest until 5 p.m. on June 21.
- They will interview candidates publicly, during the Tuesday, July 5 City Commission meeting. That meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the commission chambers at City Hall. Anyone interested in watching the meeting and interviews, who can’t attend in person, can watch live on AccessVision Channel 17, or the city’s YouTube channel.
To submit your letter of interest:
- Email it to publicinput@battlecreekmi.gov
- Drop it off in person (8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday) or mail it to:
Battle Creek City Hall
City Manager’s Office, Suite 206
Battle Creek, MI 49014
Anyone who submits a letter of interest and wants to consider keeping the potential seat beyond early November should pick up a petition packet from the City Clerk’s Office, Room 111 at City Hall. At-large City Commission candidates must collect 100-150 valid signatures from City of Battle Creek registered voters.
