Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 166 Grenville St. Rescue 3 arrived within two minutes to find fire showing from the first floor of a single family two-story home. Rescue 3 and Squad 2 extended a hand-line to the first floor while Truck 1 and Squad 6 extended a hand-line to the second floor. Car 3 established command. Engine 2, Engine 5, and Engine 6 assisted with fire attack and overhaul. It was later determined that all occupants had safely exited prior to arrival. The fire was under control within 60 minutes, due to multiple rooms on fire in the dwelling and fire ultimately extending into the attic. The occupant attempted to extinguish the fire before exiting and received minor burns to the hand. Two dogs did not survive the fire. The fire marshal is investigating the fire for cause.
