Battle Creek Public Schools Education: 3,753 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 3,753 students enrolled in Battle Creek Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.5% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.3% of them were boys, and 46.7% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were African American, representing 40.0% of the Battle Creek Public Schools total enrollment.

Battle Creek Public Schools covers 13 schools within Calhoun County with its main office in Battle Creek. Among them, Battle Creek Central High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,108 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
