Transit services back after pause; city hiring more drivers

City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on Mar 5.

We are happy to announce that Battle Creek Transit services are back on Monday, March 7 after some temporary changes, and we continue to hire drivers to the team.

After about eight weeks and adding some drivers, these services are back:

  • Tele-Transit will again provide service from 5 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday.
  • The 3E Main-Post and 4N Capital NE bus routes will return to their own half-hour routes, leaving downtown at :15 and :45 minutes after the hour. (These routes have been combined since mid-January.)
  • BCGo will provide Saturday service again starting Saturday, March 12.
We continue to hire Transit drivers at this time, and those interested can get more job details and apply at battlecreekmi.gov/jobs. Operator/driver positions start at $19.05 per hour, with no experience necessary, and we will train drivers to get their commercial driver’s license.

You might know that next week is the one-year anniversary of the on-demand BCGo pilot, which operates Calhoun County-wide. We plan to run that service as long as the grant funds last, which we anticipate will be late May or early June. We have applied for a grant extension to keep BCGo going.

The Transit team cares about taking neighbors where they need to go. If you need more information, or help planning a trip, please call them at 269-966-3474. Service information is also online at battlecreekmi.gov/transit.

We thank you for your patience while these service changes were in place.
