State Representative Steve Frisbie of Michigan’s 44th House District has welcomed the passage of the new state budget, highlighting its focus on reducing spending and eliminating waste. Frisbie stated that the plan cuts overall state expenditures by removing “ghost employee” positions, redirecting those funds to communities in need.

“This budget shows taxpayers that Lansing can finally put their interests first,” Frisbie said. “We are ending waste, making government live within its means, and putting every dollar back to work for Michigan families.”

The approved budget allocates significant resources to road repairs and school funding. It includes billions for infrastructure improvements without increasing consumer taxes and provides record per-pupil funding for schools across the state.

For working families, the budget removes state taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security income. A Public Safety Trust Fund has also been established to provide law enforcement agencies with updated equipment and training.

“These are the priorities people tell me about every day — safer streets, better schools, and fair treatment for working families,” Frisbie said. “This budget is proof that House Republicans are listening and delivering for Michigan..”

Frisbie emphasized several direct investments coming to District 44 through Michigan’s Local Development and Infrastructure initiative:

- $737,000 allocated for new tasers for Calhoun County law enforcement

- $3.3 million designated for bridge replacement and rehabilitation in Sheridan Township

- $125,000 earmarked for carport improvements in Springfield

- $32,000 set aside for Albion police body cameras

- $31,700 provided to Bronson Health to expand sexual assault prevention education

“These investments go straight to the heart of what matters here at home — safe communities, reliable infrastructure, and healthy families,” Frisbie said. “Calhoun County will see lasting benefits from this budget, alongside the broader wins we’ve secured for all of Michigan.”

The Legislature approved the budget today.
