A five-month electrical project by Consumers Energy brought changes to Battle Creek's Transit route on April 7.
An electrical upgrade on Jackson Street downtown will take five months to complete and resulted in the temporary closure of McCamly Street first followed by Capital Avenue SW, according to WKZO. The upgrade will bring an underground infrastructure for new electrical cables to improve downtown service.
Bus stops that will be out of service during the project are McCamly and West Michigan, McCamly near Clara's on the River and Willard Library.
Transit routes 2E Emmett/East, 3W Kendall/Goodale and 1W West Michigan will be detoured on Saturdays while the project is under construction. These three routes will change route with the downtown Transfer Center to detour using Hamblin, Capital and Van Buren to reach McCamly Street, according to WKZO.
McCamly Street is expected to reopen by the end of April. Capital Avenue SW will close at the beginning of May and will reopen around June 8.
