Two people were injured in a shooting reported early Sunday morning, April 19, in Battle Creek.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department, officers responded at about 4:30 a.m. to the area of North McKinley Avenue and NE Capital Avenue after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunfire. Investigators said the victims were inside a parked vehicle when it was struck by several rounds of gunfire.

The victims, identified as a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male who are both residents of Battle Creek, drove themselves to a local hospital following the incident. Police were notified while officers canvassed the area. Both individuals are listed in stable condition.

The police department said they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains open.
