Battle Creek Police announced on April 6 that three juvenile males were arrested following an attempted vehicle theft and shooting incident early Sunday morning in the 400 block of Arbor Point Drive.

Police said the suspects tried to steal a vehicle at about 1:45 a.m. and fired four shots at a resident who confronted them. The victim was not injured during the encounter.

Officers investigating the scene found evidence that suggested suspects had entered or tried to enter additional vehicles in the area. Four shell casings were recovered, and video footage was reviewed as part of the investigation. Police also received several more calls from residents reporting individuals hiding nearby.

A search led officers, with assistance from a police K-9, to locate three male juveniles near 20th Street and Michigan Avenue. The victim identified them as those involved in the incident, leading to their arrest without further incident.

The suspects include one 17-year-old male and two 16-year-old males, all of whom have been lodged at Calhoun County Juvenile Home. Charges being submitted include larceny from a vehicle and aggravated felonious assault. Police described this as an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to public safety, adding that no further information will be released at this time.
