Battle Creek Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 1.
Good attendance is the key to school success. At BCPS, we know that every day counts and hope to see our Bearcats in the classroom every day possible — especially on Count Day on Wednesday, October 6!
October 6 is the day the state uses to “count” the BCPS students in each of our schools. All public schools in Michigan receive state funding based on the number of students attending — so it’s important that all of our Bearcats attend school all day on October 6. The state-issued funding is calculated using the number of students in each district, so each student out of school on Count Day means a reduction in the critical funds our district needs in order to continue providing students with outstanding learning experiences.
Make a plan to attend school on Count Day. Will we see your student there on Wednesday, October 6?
If you are facing barriers that make it harder for your student to get to school, we want to know! To be connected with community support for challenges like issues with housing, laundry, lunch, transportation, or anything else that stands in the way of getting to school, please contact your students’ building office or Communities in Schools Site Coordinator. If you’ve been notified that your student needs to quarantine because of potential COVID-19 exposure, please continue to stay home and engage in remote learning until the end of your student’s quarantine period.
