City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on Oct 1.
The Battle Creek Fire Department this year invites everyone to its sixth Fire Prevention Week open house, set for 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9.
All are invited this year to Station 6, at 2401 Capital Ave. SW, for hot dogs, games, station tours, fire equipment displays, and prize drawings. The Fire team shared a virtual tour of Station 6 in 2020, due to COVID-19, and will welcome visitors in person this year.
The event will cap Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 3-9, the national campaign held each year in October. This year’s theme is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!”
The community also is invited to the annual Battle Creek area fire prevention open house, set to take place from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Bailey Park, 1392 Capital Ave. NE. Another free, family event, the city’s team and other area fire departments will display their vehicles, educational information, and more.
In addition, city fire crews will visit Battle Creek and Lakeview kindergarten classes throughout the week to educate students, and help them feel comfortable with firefighters, especially when in full gear. They will offer their presentations outside, as a pandemic safety precaution. Please ask your kindergartners about these visits!
We hope you will join us for these activities and meet our great Fire Department team!
