City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on Aug 30.

With Labor Day next Monday, Sept. 6, Full Blast Recreation Center will transition to the fall/winter schedule.

The last day to enjoy Flash Flood Water Park is Sunday, Sept. 5, from noon-6 p.m. While the park typically stays open through the Labor Day holiday, ongoing staffing issues require us to close a day early.

However, Flash Flood still will host the 2021 Puppy Plunge on Saturday, Sept. 11. Visit recreation.bcparks.org to sign up. Click Register Now! on the left side of the page.

Full Blast and the fitness center will be closed Thursday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 6 for gym floor refinishing and the Labor Day holiday. When we reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 7, winter hours are in effect: 7 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekends.

Upcoming Recreation programs are also available at recreation.bcparks.org:

  • Smart Start Sports Development
  • Learn to skate/Learn to play hockey
  • Smart Start Basketball
  • KCC baseball clinic
  • Youth basketball
  • City basketball league
  • Winter Break Camp – Dec. 20-23 and Dec. 27-30
Please note that all city offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 6 for the Labor Day holiday. We will resume the same limited hours on Tuesday, Sept. 7 – generally 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-noon Friday. This will continue while the COVID-19 virus transmission tracks high in Calhoun County.

Battle Creek Transit buses and vans do not run on Labor Day, and will resume regular schedules on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Republic Services is closed on Labor Day, so all garbage, recycling, and yard waste curbside pickup is delayed one day next week.
