Despite the many reminders and restrictions to help curtail the spread of COVID-19, businesses continue to defy public health orders.

Lakeview Lounge in Battle Creek was among the businesses cited on Tuesday by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) for violating state-wide public health orders.

The MLCC has been suspending liquor licenses as well as permits of non-compliant businesses that continue to offer dine-in services in their establishments.

Down the Tracks in Flint was cited a day before Lakeview’s citation.

Both are slated to appear before a judge via an online hearing on Friday to determine if there are more penalties to be implemented and if suspensions should be lifted or continued.

The MLCC is reiterating that businesses must comply with state orders, local ordinances, and guidelines from local health departments.

The public is encouraged to send complaints in connection with businesses that are violating codes and rules. These complaints can be sent anonymously through MLCC’s web site or by calling its hotline number at 866.893.2121.

Protocols, and other guidelines on reopening and other information about business occupancy limits and face-covering requirements, including reopening resources from industry partners can be found at michigan.gov.
