BATTLE CREEK CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL: Update on Middle School Transformation Bond Measure

Meeeeeet

Battle Creek Central High School issued the following announcement.

At this evening’s board meeting, the BCPS school board voted to move forward with the next steps for a bond measure to transform Northwestern Middle School into a K-8 visual and performing arts academy and make building renovations to Springfield Middle School. This means that the bond proposal will be submitted to the Michigan Department of Treasury in January so that the measure can appear on the ballot for a public vote in May 2021.

We began sharing information about this project a few weeks ago and we have had amazing feedback from the community! Parents and community members are excited to see the district continue to expand opportunities for students to explore their curiosity, interests, and talents.

If you missed the recent town hall event held on Facebook Live or would like to watch it again to learn more about the proposed plan, click here to view the video or click here to download the presentation. Translated versions of the presentation are also available here in Spanish and here in Burmese.

As the process moves ahead we are especially looking forward to gaining more input to help shape the project. We will be working to gain community input and student voice through surveys, focus groups, collaboration meetings, and other formats over the next few months.

If you would like to leave feedback, or if you’d like to get involved by participating in future focus groups or collaboration meetings, please complete the form at bcps.me/MSBond.

The bond measure for middle school transformation will be on the ballot in Battle Creek in May 2021!
