Structure type: Single-family dwelling

Construction type: Wood frame

Location/extent of damage: Inside of the structure toward the back of the house

Other information: Car 3, Engine 2, Rescue 3, Rescue 4, Engine 5, Truck 6, Squad 4, and Squad 6 were dispatched to a single-family dwelling structure fire. Engine 2 was the first unit to arrive to find heavy fire coming from the rear of the structure. Fire crews pulled an attack hose line, made interior entry from the front of the house, and quickly extinguished the fire. Fire crews performed rescue searches and found two dogs that were alive. Fire units then performed overhaul and checked for extension. No firefighters or civilians were injured. At this time, the fire is under investigation by the Battle Creek Fire Marshal.
