City of Battle Creek MI Government issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.
FYI, neighbors - please limit your activities after dusk as much as possible, now that we have a case of EEE in a horse.
Due to a positive EEE diagnosis in a horse in Calhoun County and to the severity of the EEE disease in humans, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Calhoun County Public Health Department are advising Calhoun County schools to cancel or move any outdoor scheduled activities that would be conducted between dusk and dawn. For all practical purposes that would mean approximately between 7pm and 7am. This advisory would be in effect until our first “hard” frost of the season.
