The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing work on Interstate 94 in the Battle Creek area today.
Reporting by the Battle Creek Enquirer states that the project is projected to complete by mid-July. The $1.4 million project extends from Interstate 94 to Hamblen Avenue.
There are planned ramp closures at Dickman Road and Columbia Avenue along the route.
MDOT announced a detour for the Dickman Road ramp closure that will pass onto Main Street and Hamblin Avenue. Detours for the Columbia Avenue ramp closure will use Beckley Road and Dickman Road.
In addition, over the course of work, traffic in both the southbound and northbound directions will be reduced to single-lane travel.
While work restrictions were recently extended through the end of May by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, contractors on MDOT projects continue to be classified as essential workers. However, contractors are still operating under additional precautions as designated by state guidelines and U.S. Centers for Disease Control protocols.
