Sen. John Bizon, M.D. (R-Battle Creek) has joined with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to encourage residents to wear face masks when going out in public, in an effort to slow and ultimately stop COVID-19 from spreading even further, according to MiSenateGOP.
The senator said, “It is better to be cautious and cover your nose and mouth with a non-synthetic cloth material, like cotton fabric, than going out without anything covering your face. This practice would at least offer some protection against infection and unknowingly spreading the virus if you are asymptomatic.”
He also added that masks work even better when residents wash their hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Other medical experts who double as politicians, like Craig Glines, D.O., have also jumped onboard.
Glines said, according to MiSenateGOP, “We join the Centers for Disease Control in advising citizens to cover their mouth and nose but leave N95 and other medical-grade masks available for health care workers. The number of infections across the U.S. has greatly increased mask shortages across the country for frontline medical personnel.”
