City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on Oct. 11
There's a large, technical manual about our stormwater management that is now available for review and public comment, before the City Commission's final adoption in December.
We are interested in any public feedback on this, and want to prepare developers for 2020 changes to this manual. The changes are tied to our storm sewer system (MS4) permit with the state.
The manual is for use by Calhoun County communities to protect our surface water and groundwater, with an increased emphasis on water quality and environmental sustainability. These rules focus on specific controls that provide filtration and/or infiltration of stormwater events, and address flood control with detention basins.
This allows us to have a positive impact on the quality of surface waters by controlling the amount of runoff and concentrations of pollutants.
