State Representative Steve Frisbie, a Republican from Pennfield, is playing a leading role in forming the Michigan House Law Enforcement Caucus. This new group of legislators aims to support law enforcement officers and improve public safety across Michigan.

Frisbie, who has experience as a first responder, emphasized the daily challenges faced by police officers. “As a former first responder, I know the kind of pressure our law enforcement officers face every day,” Frisbie said. “They step into difficult and dangerous situations to keep our communities safe. They need to know their Legislature stands firmly behind them.”

The caucus was established in response to ongoing recruitment shortages and heightened risks for officers throughout the state. Members believe it is essential for lawmakers to show clear support for public safety and uphold the rule of law.

According to Frisbie, the caucus will prioritize policies that assist both individual officers and entire departments. The group’s focus includes improving recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring sufficient funding and training for agencies, and opposing measures that could weaken policing or endanger officers.

“Public safety is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government,” Frisbie said. “Our caucus exists to make sure the people who put on the uniform every day know they have strong allies fighting for them in Lansing.”

The Michigan House Law Enforcement Caucus has extended invitations to other House members interested in joining its mission to advocate for law enforcement and promote effective public safety policy statewide.
