The City of Marshall announced on Mar. 30 that its annual brush pickup will take place starting Monday, April 13, 2026. Residents who want to participate are required to have their brush placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on that day.
The city will use two crews for the collection and will only make one round through each neighborhood. Limbs and brush should be no longer than ten feet, and must be stacked parallel with the curb to allow equipment access without damaging lawns. Only brown biodegradable bags are permitted; plastic bags are not allowed.
Materials left out after the crew has passed will become the property owner’s responsibility. The city stated that leaves, grass clippings, stumps, roots or limbs exceeding size limits, building lumber, landscape timbers or garbage will not be collected. If these items are mixed in with eligible brush, none of it will be removed.
Residents were also reminded not to rake debris into the street as it can clog storm drains during rainstorms and lead to flooding. The city said this helps keep maintenance costs down since street sweepers cannot pick up piles of leaves.
Additionally, Marshall’s Compost Site behind the Department of Public Works garage at 619 Homer Road opens April 7, 2026. It accepts brush and organic material throughout the year during scheduled hours: Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
