A man was injured in an assault involving an axe on April 25, according to the Battle Creek Police Department. Officers responded to a reported stabbing shortly after 5 p.m. on North Wabash Avenue, north of Capital Avenue NE.
Police said the victim, a 40-year-old man, was struck with an axe during an altercation with someone he knew. He suffered injuries to his chest and elbow and was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that he was able to speak with officers at the hospital.
The suspect, identified as a 44-year-old man, left the scene in a vehicle but was located by officers nearby and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Battle Creek Police Department for questioning.
