Fire damages Van Buren Street home; no injuries reported

The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a house fire on East Van Buren Street shortly after midnight on April 14. No injuries were reported, and the resident was not home at the time of the incident.

This event highlights the ongoing work of local emergency services in protecting community safety during residential fires.

According to information released by city officials, crews arriving at the scene found significant fire throughout the first floor of the residence. Engine 3 and Squad 1 quickly knocked down most of the flames and searched the first floor, while Truck 1 and Rescue 2 checked for fire extension and searched upstairs. Additional support was provided by Engine 4, Engine 5, and Rescue 6 with water supply and overhaul operations.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about fifteen minutes. However, both floors of the home sustained damage from fire. The cause is currently under investigation by the Battle Creek Fire Marshal’s Office.

LifeCare Ambulance and Battle Creek Police Department also assisted at the scene. The City of Battle Creek Communications Office said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
