The City of Marshall Water Department announced on April 2 that its annual spring hydrant flushing will begin on April 10. The process is expected to last up to four weeks, with work scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Hydrant flushing is an important maintenance activity that helps ensure the quality and reliability of the city’s water supply. During this period, residents may notice changes in water pressure or discoloration, which are common effects of the flushing process.
According to the announcement, the work will start at the Water Plant on East Green Street and progress throughout the city over several weeks. Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution when approaching crews who are performing hydrant flushing operations.
Residents can track progress using a live map provided by the city at https://www.cityofmarshall.com/314/Hydrant. For any questions or concerns about hydrant flushing, individuals can contact Aaron Ambler by email at aambler@cityofmarshall.com or call the Water Department at 269-781-2210.
The city encourages all community members to stay informed during this routine maintenance period and reminds them that temporary changes in water appearance or pressure should resolve once nearby hydrants have been flushed.
