The City of Battle Creek announced on Apr. 22 that its no-cost paint program is returning this summer, offering up to 10 gallons of free paint to eligible residents within city limits.

The program aims to support homeowners with outdoor painting projects by providing materials at no cost, helping improve property appearance and maintenance in the community.

According to the city, applicants can apply online through the city’s web application or pick up paper applications in person at City Hall, Room 117, during business hours. Completed applications may be submitted online, dropped off in Room 117 or the blue drop box in the City Hall parking lot, or mailed to Code Compliance Paint Program at 10 N. Division St., Suite 117.

To qualify for the program, residents must submit photos of exterior areas they plan to paint along with their application. The city said that only paint will be provided; homeowners are responsible for all labor and additional supplies needed for their projects. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.

Once approved, applicants receive a voucher to collect their allotted paint from Springfield Do-it Center located at 1583 W. Dickman Road. Participants are required to complete their painting project within 60 days of receiving the voucher and must schedule an inspection upon completion by calling 269‑966‑3311.

More information about the program is available on the Paint Program page on the city’s website.
