Battle Creek police investigate fatal bicycle crash on West Columbia Avenue

Battle Creek police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Tuesday morning on West Columbia Avenue. According to authorities, the incident took place around 6:45 a.m. when a bicyclist traveling westbound was struck by a vehicle moving in the same direction.

Emergency responders from the Battle Creek Police Department, Battle Creek Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance arrived at the scene. The bicyclist, identified as a 23-year-old man from Battle Creek, was pronounced dead at the location.

Police stated that no charges are being pursued at this time and that the investigation is ongoing. During the emergency response, part of West Columbia Avenue was temporarily affected but traffic has since returned to normal.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the individual involved in this tragic incident. We remind everyone to stay alert and share the road safely,” said officials from the City of Battle Creek Communications Office.
