The Battle Creek Police Department announced on Apr. 14 that three women were arrested following a reported home invasion and assault in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 12, on Freedom Lane.

Police said they responded to the incident shortly after 3:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Freedom Lane. Officers spoke with an 18-year-old resident who reported that three female suspects forced entry through a window, assaulted her, and used pepper spray inside the residence. According to police, the victim indicated that the altercation was related to a previous dating relationship. The victim received treatment at the scene from LifeCare Ambulance.

Investigators obtained limited descriptions of the suspects, including a nickname for one and a photograph of another. A description of their getaway vehicle was also collected by officers at the scene.

About an hour later, police said they were contacted again by the victim, who reported that she had seen her alleged assailants livestreaming about the incident at a local gas station via Facebook. Officers went to the gas station and spoke with several individuals but did not have enough information at that time to confirm their involvement.

Shortly afterward, police located an unoccupied vehicle with hazard lights flashing near Riverside Drive and Dickman Road. When four women returned to this vehicle, officers recognized one as being involved in the earlier home invasion based on prior information provided by the victim; another woman was identified by nickname as described earlier.

All three women were positively identified by the victim at this location and taken into custody—two are aged 19 years old while one is aged 21—and charged with home invasion offenses.
