The City of Battle Creek has announced details for the upcoming Christmas Parade, organized by the Harper Creek Optimist Club. The parade will begin at 5:40 p.m. at Champion and Washington, proceed down West Michigan Avenue, and end near Commerce Pointe and Café Rica. Spectators are encouraged to arrive by 5:30 p.m. as public parking lots downtown will be open but may fill quickly due to road closures along the route and intersecting streets.

A feature of this year’s parade is the debut appearance of Him-a-layin Salt, one of the city’s named snow trucks.

For those unable to attend in person, live coverage will be available on AccessVision via cable and streaming platforms at 6 p.m., with a replay scheduled for 10 p.m. (https://www.accessvision.tv/program-schedule).

The city also provided updates regarding holiday hours for municipal services during Thanksgiving week:

City offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, resuming regular hours on Monday, Dec. 1.

Ride Calhoun offices will also close on Nov. 27–28. No RC MAX (fixed-route), RC MOVE (paratransit), or RC FLEX (on-demand) transit services will operate on Thursday; regular service resumes Friday.

Republic Services’ trash and recycling collection will not occur on Thursday; both Thursday and Friday pickups will shift by one day.

Full Blast Recreation Center is set to close both Thursday and Friday, reopening Saturday, Nov. 29.

“Enjoy the parade and have a safe weekend!” stated the City of Battle Creek Communications Office.
