A 38-year-old man is recovering after a stabbing incident near downtown Battle Creek, according to a statement released April 13. The incident occurred in the early morning hours when the man arrived at the Battle Creek Police Department station with stab wounds to his back and neck.

Police officers provided aid until members of the Battle Creek Fire Department arrived to offer additional medical care. The victim was then transported by LifeCare Ambulance to Kalamazoo for further treatment. Authorities said he is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

Officers believe the stabbing may have taken place under the bridge near I-194 and East Fountain Street.
